Allou from Montreal and welcome to our continuing adventures in Canada. We left our group at the ferry dock in N. Sydney, NS and are on our own. We traveled east through Nova Scotia and New Brunswick pausing to visit some Victorian houses and the longest covered bridge in the world.
Our first stop in Quebec province was at Riviere-du-Loup where we were thrilled by a whale. We took an evening boat tour onto the St. Lawrence with a guarantee of seeing humpbacks, minkes, belugas and maybe a blue. After almost three hours, we saw a few white belugas and a couple of minkes but not much else. Just as our guide feared he would have to return our money, a mother and baby humpback appeared. The baby breached to the loud cries of all aboard. The pair entertained us for about an hour with a game of tag and chase coming close to the side of the boat and even going under it. We were most satisfied with the trip, though we wondered about the guide whose list of whales he claimed we saw increased the closer we got to the dark shore.
